Tid

We're planning a topptur trip to Jotunheimen! Exact plans will depend on weather and snow conditions, but we're planning on staying near Lom and exploring some of the many skiing possibilities in the area. Alternatively, we'll look at other locations in either Jotunheimen/Trollheimen/Rondane area as weather and conditions dictate (this will be communicated to participants once signed up).

Sign up with the form below. NB! There is a limited number of spots on the trip, so please register early/as soon as possible. Those who do not secure a spot will be placed on a waiting list.

Please note that this is not an introductory course. You must have experience in ski touring to join this trip.

IMPORTANT! Avalanche gear is mandatory for all our trips; you cannot participate without it.

Registration is open, but unfortunately, there is not enough space for everyone. We will review the registrations and select participants. We strive to accommodate everyone who is interested and suitable for the trip on one of our outings this season.

We will leave Oslo in the afternoon on Thursday, March 20th. Information will be sent to those who secure a spot. We will likely be back late on Sunday.

More information to come.

General information on OSI Friluft ski trips:

-- How do randonee trips with OSI Friluft work?

On these weekend trips, we travel as a group of skiing enthusiasts. We, the organizers, facilitate the trip itself but are not guides in the sense that we lead. Winter mountain excursions, especially in and around steep terrain, inherently carry risks such as avalanches, falls, injuries, low temperatures, changing winds, and weather conditions. We, as organizers, are not guides and cannot claim the expertise or responsibility to lead participants on these trips.

Once gathered, we will plan our route and form groups based on preferences. Whether someone chooses to ski in steep terrain (>30 degrees) or entirely avalanche-safe terrain is entirely up to the participants. We, as trip organizers, will try to arrange the group so that everyone can ski where they want. Additionally, we choose destinations where there are enjoyable tours regardless of the avalanche forecast.

Therefore, it is crucial that all participants are aware of their own competence and experience, sharing it with the group so that informed decisions can be made. If you notice signs of avalanche danger that others, perhaps more experienced than you, do not notice, you must be able to express your concerns.

-- What is randonee/ski touring/splitboard?

There are many names for this sport, but it is quite simple in essence. Ski touring, alpine touring, randonee, and/or splitboarding are akin to alpine skiing or snowboarding, but without the use of lifts. Specialized bindings and boots allow the heel to be released, and you ascend the mountain with skins under the skis before removing them at the top to descend. It's essential to understand that participants must have or rent this type of equipment to join. Regular alpine skis, non-split snowboards, traditional ski touring, or cross-country skis will not suffice. If you don't have or rent the right equipment, you cannot participate in the trip.

--Registration:

There are three different ticket types: Regular participant, participant with a car, and rental of avalanche gear. The prices are as follows:

· Regular participant: 2000 NOK
· Participant lending a car: 750 NOK
· Rental of avalanche gear: 100 NOK. To rent, select the option in the registration form. We may not have enough for everyone, so if you cannot rent from us, you must find a set to rent/borrow on your own.

We are delighted that so many are interested in our trips, but unfortunately, there is not enough space for everyone who wishes to join. Those who secure a spot will receive an email with information.

We will organize more trips throughout the season and will try to give everyone who wants to participate the opportunity to join a trip. Stay tuned to our website/our social media channels!

--What is included?

The ticket includes transportation, food, and accommodation. Participants are responsible for food during the drive and snacks during the trip.

--Transport:

We need 3 cars. If you have a car available and are willing to drive and offer rides for the trip, purchase a ticket for a participant with a car, and OSI Friluft will cover fuel/charging and tolls.

--Participant requirements:

OSI Friluft aims to organize ski tours for student ski enthusiasts. It is not a requirement to be a student to participate, but it is preferred. At the very least, you should have recently been a student or be in the age range of students. We expect all participants to have good skiing skills. This doesn't mean you need to be an expert in steep terrain, but you must have experience skiing, such as slalom or alpine, and enough experience to go on a tour without your own guide.

If you're interested in starting with randonee but are unsure if this trip is suitable for you, we recommend joining one of our introductory tours, which we will organize in January and March. These will be day trips close to Oslo, where there is more room to try it out. Information about this will be available on our website.

Avalanche training is not mandatory for the trip, but we encourage everyone to acquire avalanche competence, either through courses or self-study. We recommend everyone at least go through Varsom's interactive avalanche school, which you can find here. Participants must bring all skiing equipment, avalanche gear, and suitable clothing. OSI Friluft's board has 5 avalanche packages available for rent and can assist in finding suitable rental equipment for participants who need it. If you don't own all the equipment, there are good opportunities to rent it from places like Hygglo or Finn.

It is a requirement that you provide the following equipment yourself:

· Randonee skis or splitboard suitable for ski touring (not cross-country)
· Skins
· Poles
· Helmet
· Ski goggles/sunglasses
· Ski boots suitable for ski touring
· Backpack (recommended 20-40L)
· Avalanche transceiver, probe, and shovel (if you have arranged a loan from OSI Friluft, we will bring it).

We also recommend the following clothing/equipment:

· Waterproof and/or windproof jacket and pants
· Wool underwear
· Fleece or other intermediate layer
· Hat
· Gloves/mittens
· Buff/neck gaiter/balaclava
· Sunglasses
· Extra warm jacket/wool sweater for stops/pauses
· Sunscreen
· Headlamp

--Postponement/cancellation:

For the trip to take place, it is a prerequisite that the weather is sufficiently good, and the avalanche danger is not too high. It may happen that the trip is impossible on the planned weekend. In that case, we will try to postpone the trip if possible, rather than canceling. More information on this will be provided as the trip
